Third suspect charged in Marshall County bestiality, sodomy case

A third suspect was charged Wednesday in connection with a bestiality and sodomy case stemming from a lewd video posted online last week, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and a published report.

Frederick Steve Cookston, 62, of Albertville, is being held in the Marshall County Jail on $250,000 bond after being charged Wednesday on bestiality and sodomy charges, the sheriff’s office said.

Two other suspects, 36-year-old Albertville resident Holly Renae Debord and 53-year-old Vann Christopher Harris of Guntersville, were charged last week on bestiality and sodomy charges in connection with the video, which depicted the suspects, a mentally disabled man and a domesticated animal, according to the Guntersville Advertiser-Gleam.

“This is a unique case for what it involved,” Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims told the paper. “The one charge [bestiality] is not one you often hear about. It involved a domesticated animal and we are going to leave that there for now.”

The video was distributed online, and Sims urged anyone who downloaded it to delete it immediately.
