Lafayette Police seize 23 pounds of meth in department’s largest bust

The Lafayette Police Department seized more than $2 million in meth on Sunday in what the department is calling its largest meth bust in history.

Vickie M. Watson, 61, of Kentucky, was arrested around 3:19 p.m. Sunday as part of an on-going narcotics investigation by LPD’s Tactical Narcotics Team following a traffic stop in Lafayette where LPD officers found 23 pounds of methamphetamine and 248 vials of THC oil.

According to LPD, federal Drug Enforcement Administration valuations put the methamphetamine seizure at more than $2 million.

Watson was charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and Schedule II controlled substances, as well as a traffic violation.
